A message from Dean Roellke on Hurricane Irene, August 27, 2011 at 12:00pm

Dear Members of the Vassar Community,

I am writing to provide some scheduling updates and to provide additional recommendations to promote safety during inclement weather.

For safety reasons, the following orientation activities have been adjusted.

Saturday, August 27

  • The barbeque has been moved to ACDC with music provided.
    Please note:
We advise that all students stay in their residence halls following dinner due to the high winds and heavy rains predicted.
  • The Just Move It program has been cancelled.
  • Brewers Games have been postponed and will be rescheduled.
  • The Bonfire is cancelled.

Sunday, August 28

  • The VANS program has been cancelled.
  • The mandatory Sex Signals program is tentatively rescheduled for Tuesday evening (confirmation and details to be provided following the predicted storm).

If you have not done so already, please bring all bicycles inside your building. If you have a vehicle on campus, please take the time to relocate the vehicle to South Lot. Please close all windows. Please continue to check the Vassar College homepage for updates. President Hill and I will continue to keep you informed of important developments.

With much appreciation for your cooperation and patience.

Chris Roellke
Dean of the College
Professor of Education
