Dean of the College Committees
Committee on College Life
The Committee on College Life (CCL) is intended to function as the senior-level policy-making committee for all matters affecting student life. While the committee does review policies that affect the college, it does not directly review academic or library policies. The committee is able to suggest proposed changes to the president. Chaired by the dean of the college, CCL members include the dean of students, the dean of studies, the dean of freshmen, the associate dean of the college for campus life, the Vassar Student Association (VSA) president, the VSA academic executive, a student representative from each class, the chairs of the faculty House Fellow Committee, two elected faculty representatives, the dean's student interns, and the student assistant to the president of the college.
Health and Counseling Committee
The health and counseling committee is committee that was formed to keep track of important campus issues having to do with health and counseling services, to act as a liaison between the health and counseling services and the faculty, administration and students, and to help the various student peer groups coordinate their efforts.
Security Advisory Committee
The Security Advisory Committee was created to increase the level of communication between Security and the campus at large. The committee is composed of faculty, administrators, the director and assistant director of security, and students. The committee is chaired by a faculty member and consists of at least one house fellow, a representative from the Office of Residential Life, representatives from Campus Patrol, as well as students from a number of student organizations across campus. The committee meets in open meetings on a regular basis and allows for direct communication and exchange of information between the campus community and Security.
Chaplaincy Advisory Committee
The Chaplaincy Advisory Committee is composed of faculty, administrators, the director of religious and spiritual life, as well as representatives from various student organizations on campus. The purpose of the committee is to discuss the issues and concerns of the college community regarding matters of religion and spirituality on campus. As well, the committee helps to facilitate and support the activities and needs of the campus.
Food Committee
The Food Committee is a student-run committee organized by the VSA that is composed of members of the food management services, faculty and students. It is the intention of the committee to examine the food services on campus and address issues and concerns from the college community regarding the food service. The Food Committee also discusses pricing, food selection, and meal plans.
Residential Life Committee
The Residential Life Committee is composed of students, faculty, house fellows, house advisers, the dean of students, the director of residential life, as well as student representatives from the residence halls. The purpose of this committee is to examine any issues or concerns regarding student living on campus. The committee evaluates the residence halls, residence hall programming and student life within the residential life program.
